We believe that self reliance is key to woman empowerment. We shall be launching under this section free courses for livelihood generation and self employment. These courses shall be imparted with a nominal fee:

  3. Rearing of Cow, Buffalo, fish, duck, chicken etc.

Curriculum

Background

The empowerment and autonomy of women and the improvement of their political, social, economic and health status is  essential for the achievement of sustainable development. In all parts of the world, women are facing threats to their lives, health and well- being. In most regions of the world, women receive less formal education than men. Improving the status of women also enhances their decision-making capacity at all levels in all spheres of life, especially in the area of sexuality and reproduction. Under this section, we shall learn how to improve their life as enshrined in SDG.

Status of woman in society

Women Empowerment

  • Women empowerment means equal status to women, opportunity, and freedom to develop themselves.
  • Women’s empowerment is really needed in societies.
  • It’s so important for women’s self-esteem; women to be economically independent, self-reliant.

How to Empower Women?

Women are deprived of the status they should get in society; especially rural women.

The most effective solution for this is self-employment. For this, education and skills training is required.

  • Education
  1. Lack of quality education is one of the biggest barriers to the development of women.
  2. The individuals and government must both come together to make it happen.
  3. Education for girls must be made compulsory so that women can become literate to make a life for themselves.
  4. Women must be given equal opportunities in every field.
  5. They must be given equal pay.
  6. We can empower women by abolishing child marriage.
  • Vocational Skill Training
  1. If women are helpful in earning money like men, then the importance of women will be increased.
  2. This will increase income of house.
  3. Women will not depend on anyone for their needs.
  4. Financial independence boosts self-esteem and confidence of women.
  5. Women can learn beekeeping, mushroom farming, sewing, papad (wafer) making and other income-generating skills.
  6. They can earn money to support their family by working.

Woman Empowerment

SDG-5 talks of Gender Equality. SDG8 refers to Decent Work and Economic Growth. SDG10 is for Reduced Inequality. Under these goals, we shall examine the status of woman.

  1. 1. Out of about 7.7 billion population of the world, 3.8 billion are women.
  2. 2. There are approximately 960 million illiterate adults in the world, of whom two thirds are women.
  3. 3. One third of the world’s adults, most of them women, have no access to printed knowledge, to new skills or to technologies.
  4. 4. Women earn less than men; and there are large differences in the size of this gap across countries.

Ways to empower women

  1. 1. Through education, skill development and employment, giving paramount importance to the elimination of poverty, illiteracy and ill health among women;
  2. 2. Improve women’s ability to earn income;
  3. 3. Enact laws, regulations and other appropriate measures, for women to combine the roles of child-bearing, breast-feeding and child-rearing with participation in the workforce.

3. 3. The full and equal participation of women in political, civil, economic, social and cultural life by establishing Community Radio Stations and their participation;
