Beekeeping in India is a growing trend. A stand-alone commercial honey bee farm or integration with crops increases yield and provides additional income. Does not require huge investments or fertile land — ideal for marginal farmers.
- Create artificial hives and establish an apiary
- Caring for honeybee colonies and hive maintenance
- Produce honey and commercially valuable by-products
- Select optimal apiary sites near water, food sources and sun
Madhubani (Mithila) painting is a centuries-old folk art from Bihar, India. This course empowers learners — especially women — to master a highly marketable traditional art form for commercial income, cultural preservation, and entrepreneurship.
- Master Madhubani painting techniques and motifs
- Create commercially saleable Mithila artworks
- Understand colour, composition and traditional themes
- Start a home-based Madhubani art livelihood
Practical and economic aspects of dairy milk production — covering cattle management, feeding, health care, milk yield optimisation, and the economics of running a small dairy farm for sustainable rural income.
- Understand practical dairy milk production methods
- Manage cattle health, feeding and shelter efficiently
- Calculate costs and returns from dairy farming
- Apply economic principles to small-scale cattle rearing
Goat and sheep farming is one of the most accessible entry-level livelihoods for rural communities globally. Low capital requirement, adaptability to harsh environments, and high market demand for meat and milk make this an ideal starting livelihood.
- Select appropriate goat/sheep breeds for local conditions
- Manage feeding, shelter, breeding and health care
- Produce and market meat, milk and wool profitably
- Scale from backyard to commercial rearing operations
Poultry farming is one of the fastest-growing agri-business sectors in Asia and Africa. This course covers broiler and layer chicken farming — from housing design and feed management to disease prevention and market-ready production.
- Set up a low-cost chicken farm near the dwelling
- Manage broiler and layer chicken production cycles
- Control diseases without expensive veterinary inputs
- Calculate profit margins and market egg and meat produce
Quail farming requires very low initial investment, minimal space (backyard-scale), no vaccination, and quails are sturdy, disease-resistant birds that mature fast. Quail eggs contain very little cholesterol and the lean meat promotes brain and muscle development in children.
- Start quail rearing in backyard with minimal investment
- Understand quail maturity, egg production and meat yield
- Manage quail health — no vaccination required
- Generate a reliable second income from quail eggs and meat
An integrated fish and duck farming system maximises pond productivity through the symbiotic relationship between fish and waterfowl — duck droppings fertilise the pond, boosting fish growth while ducks control aquatic weeds and pests. High protein yield per unit area.
- Design and set up an integrated fish-duck pond system
- Select compatible fish species for integrated rearing
- Manage duck health alongside fish production cycles
- Maximise income per unit of pond area sustainably
